NCPP Program Overview

Step Up to Quality (SUTQ)

The NCPP (North Canton Primary Preschool) was recently recognized as a Gold Award Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) program by The Ohio Department of Education. This recognition is assurance that your child will receive a quality preschool education in the North Canton City School District. Your child will participate in a play-based learning environment with other peers their own age (ages 3-5) to foster their social-emotional and language development.

Program Overview

 

 

 

 

Your child will participate in a play-based learning environment with other peers their own age (ages 3-5) to foster their social-emotional and language development. Each of our six classrooms are comprised by a highly-qualified teacher with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university as well as two highly qualified teacher assistants. 

 

Ratios and Composition

 

 

 

Each classroom environment may have a maximum of eight typically developing children as well as a maximum of eight children with special education needs. The maximum number of students within each classroom will be no more than 16 students. Each classroom is comprised of a highly-qualified teacher with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university as well as two highly qualified teacher assistants.

 

Program Schedule 

 

 

 

 

Children will attend Monday through Thursday in either our morning session or afternoon session: 

Session Times:

AM Session
9:10 AM – 11:50 AM

PM Session 
1:10 PM –  3:50 PM

Your child will receive a snack during their session. The snack will consist of either milk or water and either a club cracker, ritz cracker, or a graham cracker.
 

 

 

Services Available 

 

- Artful Living and Learning Music Lessons (Stark County arts integration program)

- A nurse from Akron Children’s Hospital is also available for medical concerns 

- Occupational Therapy (If required by a child’s individualized education plan) 

- Physical Therapy (If required by a child’s individualized education plan)

- Speech/Language Services (If required by a child’s individualized education plan)

 

 

 

Tuition 

 

 

Tuition is $18 per half-day 

There is also a $50 activity fee that will be due upon your child starting preschool.  
 

Transportation 

 

 

Parents have the ability to drop off and pick up their child to and from our facility or ride the bus. A North Canton City school bus will transport your child. In addition to the bus driver, an adult bus monitor is avaliable on all buses with preschooler riders. Our buses are also equipped with lap seat belts. Please contact the bus garage directly for confirmation of routes, times, or any questions. 

 

Curriculum 

 

 

Our program develops instructional activities based on the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards. Additionally, classroom teachers use a curriculum from McGraw-Hill, World of Wonder that is interdisciplinary and aligns to our K-5 reading series, Reading Wonders.  
 

Screenings 

Each child must go through a screening process prior to enrolling in our program. Typical peer screenings are scheduled twice per year or as needed throughout the year. Typical peer screenings allow our team of professionals to provide the personalized instruction you expect for your child.
